About Us
Rimrock Free Trappers History
The Rimrock Free Trappers was generated from an idea of Bob Brock’s. It started as a monthly shoot in 1997 and continued as a monthly shoot at the Upper Nisqually Sportsman club through 1999.
During that early time three others, Bill Daly, Dave Sheridan and Frank Wieck, joined Bob as regulars. Throughout the shoots, because it was such a beautiful area, putting on a rendezvous was frequently discussed and in 1999 it was finally decided to put on the first rendezvous in 2000 and has continued on to the present. During this time membership slowly increased but in 2004 the original members started to leave due to moving out of the area, job changes or other personal reasons.
With a big thanks to member, Sean Sieler, who stepped up and held the club together during this adverse time with long time associate member Ben Crow and family. The Crow Family has furnished many of the metal targets on the trail walks and has put on the pig roast every year since the first rendezvous. In 2010 Sean decided it was time to step down from his leadership role and handed the reigns over to Dana Atchison also a 2001 member, who has been working with the kids and behind the scenes off and on, Dana has stepped back in with her unusual amount of energy, that she always displayed, she is building the club back even bringing several of the originals back into the fold. We would be remiss in not thanking all the people that have helped over the years and there is way too many to name but we could not have done it without them.
At this time it looks like the 2011 rendezvous will be one of the best ever and we hope it will continue on for many more years.
